Daily Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 4-6, John 6:1-21

Today’s Reading in The Story is found on page 465 starting with the words, “Then a voice came from the throne saying” and ending on page 466 with the words “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”  (Read in your bible Revelation 19:5-16)

Two words from today’s reading.  First: Celebration. Eternity is going to begin an endless party –  A celebration!

Revelation 19:7 (NIV) Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.

Jewish weddings lasted up to a week in biblical times, but the wedding banquet in heaven is going to go on forever. Isaiah was the one who first intimated that heaven will be a banquet of celebration that never ends.

Isaiah 25:6 (NIV) On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine – the best of meats and the finest of wines.

The Best of meats (no more concerns for cholesterol) and the finest wines (only the best forever).

But that’s not all we’ll be doing. We will be worshiping forever. If you have ever wondered what you’re going to be doing in heaven, worship will certainly be at the top of the list.

Revelation 19:5 (NIV) Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great!”

If there was ever a clearer message about WHOM we worship, I don’t know of one more direct than this one in our reading today!

Revelation 19:10 (NIV) At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

We won’t be worship angels!  They don’t deserve our worship.  The “saints” who’ve gone before us don’t deserve it either.  Both deserve our thanks, but never our worship. Not now in this life, and NOT then in the next. There is only One who deserves our worship and praise.  God in Three Persons.

Revelation 4:8 (NIV) Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”

1      Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessèd Trinity!

2      Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert and art and evermore shalt be.

3      Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.

4      Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessèd Trinity!
